Mauritius is not your average ‘boring’ paradise island, yet very diverse, known for its stunning beaches, lush landscapes, but also rich heritage and vibrant cuisine, which I will show you in this Mauritius travel guide with many unique activities and experiences beyond beaches and paradise.

On a mission to visit all the beautiful islands in the world, I am surprised it took me this long to get to Mauritius! But I am so glad we finally did. Mauritius is an Indian Ocean island nation known for its stunning beaches, lagoons, and reefs, is a perfect getaway for those seeking relaxation, adventure, and a touch of cultural exploration. Here’s a comprehensive guide to help you plan your trip to this tropical paradise.

A few days after our magical wedding in the North of Mauritius my husband and I (neither of us is Mauritian) still had lots of friends and family here from all over the world. We thought it would be fun if we got to spend some time together and decided to go on an adventure at sea, a family boat trip. Mauritius conscious was immensely helpful and quick to organise something accordingly at very short notice (not easy to get so many people, 19 of us, organised).

Mauritius has served as a model for the creation of heaven. The famous quote from Mark Twain’s travel record ‘Following the Equator’ is indeed taken out of context, but nevertheless, countless people repeat this phrase from their heart and soul. Those who have seen the heavenly landscape of the island and the hospitality of its people understand exactly what it means. Come to Mauritius and experience this island for yourself during an internship abroad, where you get the chance to live in heaven on earth.

Mauritius is known as the ultimate destination to relax on paradise looking beaches with azure blue waters. The island is small, yet it has so much to offer. Mauritian resorts and hotels are top of the bill but it gets even better when we start exploring the island a little more.
